Kampala - February 2013

The AFMIN School held in February 2013, was the first school since the AFMIN Conference held in Kampala, during August 2012. The school was held early this year because of the meetings being held in Rwanda in March 2013.

79 students attended, and as a result of well executed recruitments, many of these students registered for the first time.The school ran very well.

The ministry part was very good. We could speak to them about what God is doing in this fresh new season.

Dr Gert Basson taught on the subject of “Church Growth and Effective Preaching”. His lessons were presented in a very practical manner and were enjoyed by all.

Many good ideas and lessons were learnt which will undoubtedly be used by the students in their home churches. Out of this came something where they have asked us to come a few days before a School, so as to ministry to them on what God is saying to the church about this season.

Uganda, the land of order. I will never forget the first time I set my feet on the ground at Entebbe Airport, in September 2007. While standing in the queue, waiting for my visa, my whole body was covered in goose-flesh! I experienced a sense of “spiritual order”. There was something different about this country!

It was already dark when we arrived in Kampala. There were informal shops all along the streets. Later I would learn about the work ethics of the people. It is not unusual to find builders working under lights, even at 9pm. And it even appears that they are enjoying their work!

One thing that we have had to become accustomed to, wherever we stay, is the loud music which keeps one awake at night!. And this is not just any music, it is church music with singers filling the air with continuous sounds of joy and excitement.
