Graduation

During September, Alta and I visited the Afmin School in Kampala,Uganda.

The final week consisted of lectures and lessons in preparation for the big event of the year – the Graduation. Many of their spouses were also present and we therefore al

so dealt with various subjects relating to marriage.

On 25 September 2010, 73 students graduated after completing a 4 year course with Afmin. 23 of the students qualified for the advanced diploma which allows them to enrol for a BTH Degree with SATS. These students are wearing the red in the photos.

The remaining students received the Afmin Diploma and are wearing green.

The Ugandan Minister of Workers was the Guest Speaker.

We are very proud of these students and look forward to hearing from then in the future, as they continue to do the work of the Lord.

Uganda, the land of order. I will never forget the first time I set my feet on the ground at Entebbe Airport, in September 2007. While standing in the queue, waiting for my visa, my whole body was covered in goose-flesh! I experienced a sense of “spiritual order”. There was something different about this country!

It was already dark when we arrived in Kampala. There were informal shops all along the streets. Later I would learn about the work ethics of the people. It is not unusual to find builders working under lights, even at 9pm. And it even appears that they are enjoying their work!

One thing that we have had to become accustomed to, wherever we stay, is the loud music which keeps one awake at night!. And this is not just any music, it is church music with singers filling the air with continuous sounds of joy and excitement.
